- Wright Research
A number of record have been found on the familysearch (LDS) website that may be relevant to Joseph Wright and his ancestors.
These start with the marriage of Joseph Wright and Catherine Keeling, St Leonards Shoreditch, 30-Jul-1837. Joseph and Catherine's frst child (Joseph) was 4 years old in the 1841 census so this is a good potential match. It is on this basis that the entry for Catherine, first wife of Joseph has been deduced.
The children of Joseph and Catherine have christening records from the site:
Joseph William Wright baptised, Leyton 22-Apr-1838, parents Joseph Wright & Catherine
Matilda Wright, christened, St John Baptist, Leytonstone 21-Jul-1839
Jane Wright, Christened, St John Baptist, Leytonstone 08-Nov-1840
These match the 1841 census that has been identified with Joseph, so this seems a reasonably certain match.
The father of Joseph is known to be Jonathan Wright (from his marriage certificate to Sarah Dunning) and there exists a birth record of a Joseph Wright 26-Jan-1795, parents Jonathan Wright and Ann who was baptised at Saint Leonards Shoreditch 09-Feb-1795. These details are a reasonable match. However the same source has a date of death of 04-May-1796. The source is the parish records (births/christenings). It is unknown whether the death date is definitively connected and hence whether this record is a likely match for Joseph.
The same parents appear to have also a Jonathan (born 03-Aug-1788, christened 30-Aug-1790) and a daughter Elizabeth (born 7-Feb-1791, christened 8-Feb-1791); all at St Leonards Shoreditch.
As at 4-Oct-2005, only record of a marriage of Jonathan Wright in LDS, is to Ann Furlong, 28-Jun-1784 at St Dunstans Stepney.
There exist records for birthds ogf Jonathan Wright but this is a fairly common name and these can only be speculatively linked.
